Rails Components Revisited: Introducing "Components" Plugin

Posted by Lance Ivy Wed, 14 May 2008 20:18:00 GMT

In my last post I talked about two plugins that bring components back to Rails. At the end of the post I had decided to try Cells instead of Embedded Actions, having figured that the latter’s approach (the render_component approach) was a dead-end. After digging into Cells, though, I was a bit disheartened by the state of the code and the tests. This is where I got a little bit of NIH syndrome and decided that it may be faster to steal the idea from Cells and write up my own.

Which is why I’m now introducing a new eponymous plugin: components. Git it now, fork it, patch it, let me know what you think of it! I’m still searching for best practices with components, so I’d love to hear about some more use cases from anyone who uses it.
